MOS in 2026: from preparing attachments to a submission receipt

Coordinate employer documents early and understand the steps that remain after sending an online residence application.

General information, not an individual legal opinion. Requirements depend on your status and circumstances. Check current official guidance before applying.

Identify the correct procedure

The new MOS portal accepts electronic applications for the main residence permits. Amending an existing permit and certain special categories follow different arrangements. Select the service by the legal purpose of your application, not simply the word “card”. A paper application already accepted before the change does not automatically need to be withdrawn and resubmitted online.

Arrange attachments before the deadline

A work-based application requires coordination with the employer: an authorised representative completes and signs the employer attachment. Agree the email address, company details, role and contractual terms in advance. Scan documents in full and check legibility. Being able to access your account does not make up for a missing signature or an employer attachment that is not ready.

Keep the receipt and follow the case

After signing and sending, check for the official receipt and retain copies of the application and attachments. Monitor correspondence and comply with instructions concerning personal attendance, fingerprints or additional evidence. Online submission does not promise a particular decision date. If your address or circumstances change, check the appropriate notification channel for your proceedings.
